Intersection / Bezalel graduate exhibition / 2012
The series Intersection deals with questions of identity, memory and belonging. The reference point of the series was the fact that I was adopted from Romania in the 1980s. Its comprised of manipulated photographs and textures that were taken in Israel and in Romania.
The method of treating the images blurs the function of the structure and thus reflects a feeling of foreignness. This is the foreignness of a tourist in an unfamiliar city. In the same way, the fact that the photographs are composed of textures and parts of structures from Romania and from Israel makes it difficult for the viewer to know where the structure is located, so that it remains isolated and devoid of any geographical identity.
